Kelingking Beach — the famous T-Rex cliff — is a towering limestone headland whose profile resembles a dinosaur neck, plunging to a wild, almost inaccessible turquoise cove far below. The view from the clifftop lookout is extraordinary; the steep, exposed path down to the beach is for the adventurous only. Mount Batur is an active stratovolcano in Bali's highlands, rising to 1,717 metres above the vast Batur caldera lake. The classic experience is a night trek: set off with a guide at around 2–3 am, scrambling uphill by torchlight through volcanic ash and lava fields, arriving at the summit in time for sunrise. As dawn breaks, the crater lake below fills with mist and the peaks of neighbouring volcanoes emerge from the clouds — one of the most memorable mornings you can have in Southeast Asia.
